help a child at Children's Health today

While their diagnoses and care journeys are different, Penny and Bo are connected by who they are – creative, outgoing kids who refused to let illness define their childhood. At Children’s Health, both found more than expert medical care – they found moments of joy, self-expression and belonging that allowed them to keep being kids, even during tough moments, too.
From hosting shows on Seacrest Studios to cuddles with loveable pet therapy dogs, Penny and Bo experienced moments that lifted their spirits and reminded them — and their families — that kids can still be kids at Children’s Health, no matter what they face. These incredible moments don’t happen by chance; they happen because of extraordinary teams and generous donors who make an incredible difference.

Penny has always led life with passion and a lot of heart — despite being born with only half a functional heart.
“There were a lot of things that came up when Penny was in congestive heart failure where we thought, ‘Oh my gosh, how are we going to get through this? But we got through it, because her team got to the core of the issue in just the right amount of time. And they just care so much about helping kids get better.” – Paula, Penny’s Mom
Shannon (Bo’s father) felt relieved about his decision to bring his son to a hospital that specializes in caring for children — a hospital where team members consider and listen to the kids when making decisions about their care.
“Had we arrived at Children’s Health minutes or a couple of hours later, things could have not turned out the way they did,” Shannon said. “It could have turned out worse.”
